The Picture This Bag Pattern

December 27, 2009
The Picture This Bag Cover

The Front Cover of The Picture This Bag Pattern

Wow! I just went back through previous blog posts, and noticed I spaced out, and never told you about my latest pattern, “The Picture This Bag”!! Wondering if I was in too big of a hurry to hit the road to Houston for Quilt Market & Festival.. and thought I would share it when I returned?? I am scratching my head on this one! So please let me tell you about it!

One of my first KIT offerings.. The Paris Ville Bag (shown in my previous blog)  is designed from this new bag pattern, “The Picture This Bag!”.

The Paris Ville Bag

The Paris Ville Bag

The Picture This Bag was designed to take visual advantage of the main graphic panel on the front and back of the bag. On the Paris Ville Bag, I have used a Michael Miller Fabrics scenic fabric, called Paris Ville, fussy cutting it encompass the exact scene I wanted per pattern instructions.  I was hoping that bag makers would design their own theme bags based on customizing that front/back picture panel area too! Creative ideas abound! Think about using novelty fabric, personal images of family, pets, seasonal themes..artwork…etc.

Customize your bag!

If you would like to incorporate your own graphics/photos into your own Picture This Bag… here is an idea for you…Grab some popular Ink Jet Fabric Sheets from your favorite sewing/craft shop, and using your  ink jet printer, print a special photo (or personal artwork) on to a standard 8.5″ x 11″ sheet of this crafty/sewy product. Many different brands are out there, so experiment to find the one you like the best. I like them all, but chose the June Tailor Ink Jet Fabric Sheet because I wanted a very white white background to show off my “Papillon” (butterfly) graphic for my patterns cover bag-  The Papillon Bag.

By the way, The Papillon Panel is now available too in my online store.. right next to Bag Kits! Check out this fun fabric panel set printed especially for my company  from my artwork.

Please share your Picture This Bag ideas, and if you have already made your own version of this versatile pattern, please share it with us on my Facebook Group. We’d all love to see too!!!

New! Medium Size Bangle Bracelet Sets!!

August 26, 2009

Celebrating the arrival of NEW Medium Size Bangle Bracelet Sets!! They are approximately 2.5″  -a tiny bit smaller than the original Large, which are just under 3″ diameter. Found out these tiny measurements can make a difference when taking a bangle on and off!  Medium Sets are now available from my Studio’s on-line boutique..www.ellenmedlockstudio.com

Here is a great idea for personalizing your bangle blanks, no matter what size!

I have a fantastic accumulation of gorgeous trims, and ribbon.. never have been able to resist- especially the show stopping ribbons of Laura Nicholson Foster.  Her 2″ wide Dahlia ribbon has been waiting for the right project, and I found it perfect for my wider 1″ bangle blank! All you need is the bangle, clear drying fabric/craft glue, and  a coordinating ribbon for the interior, and your main exterior ribbon! I can’t wait to wear this!!  (I was too conservative with my glue, at first, and would recommend using more than you think you need!

The thinner bangle is my 1/2″ wide bracelet which makes use of a darling  french style trim I purchased while perusing the infinite trim collection at my local quilt shop, Sew Flakes! Chris Fornell, the owner, has us trim junkies figured out! The first step in making this bracelet is to paint your bracelet blank with two coats of common acrylic craft paint. Once dry, apply your trim!

Have a fun creative day!

New! Retro Messenger WITH Hardware!

August 12, 2009

Just added a new option when considering The Retro Messenger Bag Pattern! You may now choose to order it WITH the Hardware necessary to sew this darling and functional bag! It requires two d-rings, and two swivel snap hooks to attach the shoulder strap to the body of the bag. We have heard that these were not as easy to come across as thought, so here ya go! Hardware packet is also sold separately in the Ellen Medlock Studio Store in case you need these for other crafting/sewing projects! Thanks!

NEW! The Interchangeable3 Bag Pattern & Handle Set

April 19, 2009

The Interchangeable3 Pattern Cover

Very excited to add the Third Interchangeable Bag Design into my mix! The Interchangeable3 Bag Pattern & Handle Set is now available for PRESALE in my websites on-line store, and my etsy store as well. We will be shipping orders around May 1st, as soon as they arrive on the studio’s doorstep!  Look for it at your favorite quilt and sewing retailers soon after! If you are not familiar with my Interchangeable style bags, the clever frame allows you to create multiple bags, reusing the frame! This new style will be packaged intially with a choice of a Silver or Gold frame.

I really love this design because it can function as a daily use bag, or evening – all the decisions are yours! I have been using mine lately with one of our 45″ long fine shoulder chains, and have found I can double the chain for a whole new look! You can add oodles of beading and trim across the bottom of your Interchangeable3 bag, or omit it for a more casual look. I will be posting images soon of more of this style bag in my Bag Gallery.. incase you need a few more ideas!
