Don’t you love shortcuts?! Combine this self adhesive lamp shade, with unique fabric, and you have a quick, one of a kind home accessory that looks like you just bought it from a trendy shop!

This shade was made from  “Natural Graffiti”  fabric now available in my online boutique at www.ellenmedlockstudio.com

The Fabric Lampshade

Supplies Needed:

1/2 yard of your favorite Ellen Medlock  fabric, of course!

a self adhesive clip-on craft shade approx. 11″ diameter at the base x approx. 7 1/2″ high

Napkin ring set up 018 copy

lamp base approx.    ” tall-  (this one came from Target)

non-flammable clear drying craft glue

 rotary cutter

embroidery or regular scissors

optional:  fabric stiffner

Directions:

1.  Press the 1/2 yard of fabric well, and lay it Right Side up on your work surface.

2.  Peel off the outer cover of the lamp shade, and place it on your cut piece of fabric as a cutting pattern. Postition it as you wish with regard to your fabrics pattern!

3.  Using your rotary cutter, carefully follow the outer edge of the cover, and cut out your fabric piece.

4.  Lightly drape the cut fabric piece over the exposed tacky surface of the shade, repositioning it as needed.

5.  When you have it smoothed down nicely, trim away any excess, and glue down fabric overlap at ends.

6.  For a little bit of panache, choose a small design motif like the butterfly…from the fabric scraps, and carefully cut it by hand with the scissors or embroidery scissors.

7.   Treat the motif with fabric stiffner, allow to dry, then place it at the top rim of the shade, and glue in place.

8.  For extra fun, tie several coordinating ribbons to the base if you like!
